Life
was never about panache in India. It was simple, sober and realistic. For the
common man that is to say. The rich were usually the maharajas and the kings
and queens that ruled the country. And they were the ones whose lifestyle was
defined by luxury and opulence. Especially as far as the interiors of their
living quarters were concerned. And that meant the well carved interiors and
the whole paraphernalia that populated it. The furniture would for their
stature be but a small word. It was magnificence and grandiose that ruled.
The
interiors of these big palaces and havelis or forts were always those that had
the architecture that defined that particular era or time. There were no Interior Designers and almost everything was as per comfort and convenience.
But it was opulent. Grand. Shimmering. Not really stylish but with plenty of
the most expensive stuff by way of drapes or furniture.
Furniture
was also in wood, marble, could be metal too. But wood it was in plenty. The
interiors were made to look beautiful and enhanced with the help of furniture.
It was furniture that filled up rooms – whether it was their sleeping chambers,
meeting rooms or entertainment sections. Luxurious furniture that was heavy and
heavily carved too was what the kings enjoyed during olden times. King sixed
beds, huge teak wood tables, side tables, candle stands, thick drapes in silk
and velvet – furniture that defined luxury – was what filled up the forts and
palaces of kings and queens.
Today,
even as times have changed, yet there are homes that still boast of the tastes
of kings and prefer heavy furniture to delicate and dainty pieces. And so even
though this may be highly priced today, yet it is very much in demand. And that
is what makes interior designers even opt for such designing. Luxury Furniture may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it surely is loved by a certain class of
people.
Luxury
furniture adds style to the interiors of a home and also adds a classy touch to
the entire setting of the home. La Sarogeeka, with their years of experience in
